well i guess it was inevitable that being as clumsy as i am, i would eventually trip over my own feet and hurt myself! My ankle is now a bit brusied as the result of saturdays twisting incident so i am without running at the moment. Which is possibly the worst time that this could happen due to the fact that i am thinking about doing the club challenge next weekend without some training....mmm this cant go well!

anyway, today i managed to go for a 1 hour ride despite the rain and cold which kept popping up from time to time, I think i got about 45minutes done before i managed to hit the rain and got all wet. I came home to find A on the couch asleep and i had to jump in the shower to get feeling back in my feet...god i am a whinger arent i?

So anyway, the ride. Rode up industrial drive and back down through the end of university drive and up the main road of waratah. Rode all the way into town on the Newcastle road, did a lap of the beach and home. Was toying with the idea of heading to king edward park, but the wind that i hit riding up shortland esp was enough to make me reconsider that.

I am feeling a bit sore and sorry for myself at the moment, from the ankle and the residual pain of last weeks massage (which i am pretty sure shouldnt last as llong as it has!)....

Tommorrow i am aiming for a run. And then following that a swim to make sure i can still do it! I am a slacko! :)

Melancoly...

and so the blogging happens...

Havent been up to much at the moment...lets just say that i have been a bit of a slacko....more from lack of time then lack of motivation but....

anyway.

I went for a 4k run along the foreshore on wednesday which ended up being about 28minutes worth i think so that wasnt too bad...i then cruised along and made the time up to 40minutes and probably did another k pretty slowly....
had a massage on thursday which left me feelign a little sore and sorry for myself on Friday. Also was feeling quite the average and was sick for the day...lucky me. I love headaches and runny noses.. :(

Saturday I had cooper for the day so we went for a walk along the foreshore and i jogged the return trip which was about 12mins worth and then later in the afternoon i went for a longer 50minute run with her just around where i live....i was running really slowly taking into accounts breaks etc i ended up averaging about 8.5mins a K....bit of a worry really...

Kind of making me reconsider a couple of the races that I have been considering of late....

Today had a bit of a lazy one, but went for a ride for about an hour up and about...I also managed to twist my ankle while i was running yesterday so i was a bit careful not to push it too hard...yes i know i am a big pussy!

feeling a bit weird at the moment, dont know if it is the feeling under the weather thing or what, but i just dont feel myself...i am definatly less animated than normal and i am just feeling a bit blah i think....dont know whether it is because i am having a bit more time on my hands and not utilising it as well as i could? Guess some of the changes that have happened over the last 6 months may be starting to catch up with me?

Bike Girl!

mmmm...well again i am the less than on top of it blogger!
:)

I have been having a bit of a busy week training wise...well not frantic, and there is room
for so much more, but i have been stepping it up a little.

On Wednesday I decided that it was the day to start doing the long ride, and make an effort
to build up to doing more than 2 or 3 hours...so i decided that i would start this by ridin
to maitland and back which is about 30k each way...this plan went fine until i got onto the
highway and found that i was riding into a massive headwind which was not only making it
very difficult but also pushing me into the traffic on a highway and i was struggling to
balance. So at the hexham bridge i decided to head out to Raymond Terrace way instead and
rode to heatherbrae and back. I know that the wind makes a difference and you hear me
whinging about it all the time, but the way out there took me an hour to do 24k and the way
back it took me 40minutes. Thats a chunk of a difference and the diff between riding 24k an
hour and close to 30....Anyway, the body was feeling it a little bit afterwards, cause i
havent been on a bike for a long period of time for a while...next week, i am aiming for the
60k mark...at the moment i just want to get used to doing some regular long rides at a
reasonable pace, so when it comes to those 40k rides in races next year, they wont seem like
a big deal at all...if nothing more than psychological and i can say to myself "stop being a
wooz, you ride double this in training :)"

Thursday was a write off and went out and had some Japanese food with my best mates for one
of their birthdays...you would have read about sarah and i's cycling adventures earlier on,
but i bought her a bike light and a cycle computer :) Oh no, i am turning into a cycling
nerd! But i am ok, cause i still dont have one....

I also got to have the debate with the kid at REBEL about why road cyclists are more
hardcore than mountain bikers...he used the line "dont start me on triathletes" and my
friend looked at me with the "dont you dare face" :)

Friday, i got to spend 5 hours stuck in traffic to get to my mums place at laurieton for the
easter weekend, and as you can imagine was much less than impressed! not as much as poor
cooper who needed to do a wee when we were stuck at karuah for close to 2 hours.
Got home on friday night and took the dog for a quick run around the block and did 2.5k in
under 16mins which from those who have been following this for a while, is a bit faster than
i have done it previously :)

Saturday i didnt do anything of note, and just spent the day hanging out with my mum which i
dont get to do very often...

This mornign i woke up nice and early (well 8) and took the dog running for half an hour.
Would imagine that i was running a bit slower today as she got lost a couple of times,
probabl did about 3.5k in that time i would imagine. Then i jumped oon my bike and rode out
to lakewood from laurieton (5K) and bakc, i was on a time limit you see.....did a bit over
10k in about 30mins with the help of a nice wind on the way back.....grrr. anyways.
tommorrow i think i feel a long run coming on, or maybe a long ride...not sure yet!

Goals for the next couple of months

Since the Tri season has pretty much come to an end for me I am thinking that i should have some goals for the rest of the year as some kind of motivator.

The plan is that i get my bum to the cycling club (dont ask why it is week 3 of the season and i am not there yet) and so hopefully, there will be some regular racing/training with that.

I also want to focus on my running, because i would like to move up to some olympic distance events at the end of the year so....heres what i am thinking...

1. 6th May - Club Champs Tri
2. 18th June - Bay to Bay 12K Run
3. 27th Augsust - Lake Macquarie Half Marathon (Well the 10K component of it anyway)
4. The Avon Breast Cancer 5k..i do this every year but thinking about making an attempt to be competetive at it!

Any other ideas are welcome? :)

4.

So, on Saturday morning I got my little bum out of bed despite the very tempting warm doona and took hilary out for a bit of a ride. I rode for about an hour and a half at a fairly consistent pace and rode through hamilton, adamstown, around the beaches then back home. For once there wasnt too much wind which made me happy although there was still the annoying cars...I nearly got hit 3 times on the one ride, with people just not stopping at stop signs, or giving way to me a T intersections...grrr...

I then treated my self to a big fat ass breakfast with bacon and eggs etc, and then went for a bit of a walk with the pooch!

Sunday i had all intentions of going for a run, but then ended up going bush walking through Glenrock National Park and walked up adn down hills for about 4 hours so i figured i could do without the run today...i did do about a 500m jog to the car though, just so that i could say i did!

This morning (Tuesday) I got up and went for a 45 min run from Nobbys beach past the baths up to and around king Edward Park adn back. it was weird at one part where i was running up this massive hill i got a big burst of energy and my legs jjust took off, and i actually overtook another runner...weird. Must be running faster though, cause if you will recall (those who are avid blog readers of course) when i ran this course last, i did half of it minus the hills and it took 40mins. So yeah! Am wondering after 2 years though why i am getting blisters on my toes......me thinks its time for some new running shoes...

Then this afternoon, I went for an hours ride around the beaches and did a couple of laps of fort scrathcley hill and came home. Was overtaken by another cyclist when i was daydreaming adn then raced really hard all the way home to catch her, so ended up quite the breathless....works for me....

Miners....in answer to your question. I didnt realise that I could enter the clubs event, but i am thinking about it...dont know that i can run 8K in a reasonable time though...probably looking around an hour and a bit...is that too slow? You know A from her mum, apparently you guys used to work together....geez this world is just too small yeah :)

Slack Blogger :(

Well I am again the slack blogger, but this one can be a quick catchup...

Have actually gotten my tooshie happening a bit more this week and have been getting back to my normal training regiem. Got a bit inspired by the whole ironman thing last week and have been pulling my finger out after there was a couple of comments in regards to me not training as much as i was doing so....

Monday
Monday night my friend Sarah and I went riding for 50minutes and hit the flats around the city and freaked Sar's out with my erractic traffic riding. Although I have to note that I am always obeident of the traffic rules....

Tuesday
Had tuesday off work so i got up and was going to do my bar beach hill run, but was feeling really off and had a headache, ran for about half an hour and actually piked before i got near to the top of the hill...i then went home and fell asleep for an hour or so...bit of a worry.
I had a meeting with my supervisor in town so i rode my mountain bike in and back which was about an hour which was all standing up cause the bike is a bit small...tested out the legs, but then came home and had to have a nap....

Wednesday
Wednesday morning i got up and rode hillary up and around the hills for about an hour including 3 or four laps of the fort scratchly hill to help try and build the leg strengh up so that when i do get my tooshie into gear i may be able to be competetive in this triathlon caper.
Then i took cooper for a walk and was feeling the legs hurting a little bit so we had a bit of a jog for a k or so and the legs loosened up heaps. mmm could it be that this running caper is good for me.....

Thursday
After work I jumped in for my first pool swim session in what feels like months. Did a 1K sprint session in a 25m pool and took me about 20mins or so i think, so i am a bit rusty...and a bit upset that my $40 goggles are leaking after about 3 wears....

as for the rest of the week...watch this space....

Will also develop a list of goals etc for the tri off season....its coming i swear *Lindsay makes the monkeys type faster*

The weekend that was :)

ok so all of that talk about me getting motivated and into hasnt really worked out for me this week! God I remain the slacker.

So thursday, I had a meeting with my supervisor in town so i trundled myself in there on hilary and was running late, so i rode a little quicker than normal! Awesome. I like it when i actually push myself. Then i rode home. Same deal. Although this time it was because i wanted to watch ellen!

Friday afternoon I had all intentions of coming home and going for a run, but when i got home i lost inspiration very quickly and ended up on the couch. Bad Lindsay.

Saturday I was inspired, got up had my blood test, did some uni work, then jumped on my bike for a hill session up industrial drive and around. The plan was that i was going to ride for a couple of hours and head to maitland and back, however, my best laid plans were twarted by the massive head wind which i was riding into, and then being pushed into cars by. At one point i stopped riding and my bike actually stood up by itself with the help of the wind....

Anyway, did the hill session on the hardest gear for 2 reasons, 1. I felt like punishing myself. 2. Hilary is still having gear changing problems so I am trying to avoid changing back when i dont have 2.

I then came back to carro and spent a half an hour sprinting around and did about 4 laps of my little sprint course which is about 5k each i think, or close to it! Yeah for me. It felt good!

Came home, did some more uni work and my legs were feeling a bit tight, and i was feeling a bit inspired so I donned the running gear and went for a bit of a jog around...probably ended up doing about 3.5K in about 26minutes without stopping which is pretty good for me...cause of the slackerness angle. Funny thing is that i think this hill running is helping cause the run i did made me feel quite comfortable and a little bit hopeful that this running thing may actually be something of value in my life :P I was also running into the wind. And i mustnt have looked too bad cause A wanted to know if i had walked the last k....

Sunday was a write off as far as any kind of physical activity went, but had an awesome day just cruising around and having fun. Had a nice little lunch in the park and became inspired to try and run king edward park on tuesday :)

Was also going to try and cut some of the crap food out of my life starting from today....hasnt happened as yet...i started the day with a bottle of diet coke and a pack of CC's. Bad triathlete Lindsay *slaps her own wrists*

I also just looked at my scores from the last club tri I did, and as suspected was slower than before...well bugger me. The training legs have to come back out again....
