Stupid Virus

Ok since my last update where i was feeling all positive and optimistic about my week of training ahead...

I managed to get an hour in on the bike with lauren on Wednesday at a reasonable pace and followed it up with another hour on Friday...

Got to work on friday and crashed out and ended up sleeping all of friday and most of saturday...grr!

Ok. So I have to make a decision now. I missed my first club race on Sunday cause i didnt want to push it and have missed another day of training today. I am doing a group ride tommorrow morning (ewww...) with Kath and co and I am planning for lots of pain for this...

There are 4 possible races coming up in oct I am considering....
The Maitland tri on the 15th which is a 1/30/8 (which i am thinkign is ambitious....)
The Camden haven one that miners is banging on about the weekend after..
The club race on the third weekend which is the 450/18/4
and then a 5k charity run on the 22nd....

So I am thinking should i be ambitious on a track i dont know or try the race on the track i know which will possibly kill or at least maim me :)

I've been wallowing in my own confused and insecure delusions

Yes I am back...Sorry for being a bit slack guys!

I caught the mystery virus last week and spent a big chunk of the week in bed...managed to get up the courage to take hilary to meet my mates at the cafe (oh my god, I am turning into Miners :)) then rode home about 20k round trip as I had a bit of a detour and did a couple of hill repeats. In the arvo I went out for a run for about an hour which was a massive struggle and could feel every minute of that week off....

Sunday did a brick session with about 40min ride followed by a 2k (or thereabouts) run...again the week off was showing and I had a massive battle although I have worked out that after the first k the legs adjust so i just have to push through and stop being a wooz..

Tonight did a 5k effort along the foreshore in about 39mins with a bit of stretching and walking in there....felt like i was going at snails pace but have improved considerably since this time last year!

First club meet of the season on sun...its a duathlon which I have never done before...we will see :)

i have also borrowed a mates bike with gears so hopefully there will be a massive amount of training happening....40min run tommorrow morning and then a swim tommorrow night...1.5hour on the bike on wed with lauren :)

oh and it turns out that i like tool to run to... :)

my legs hurt :)

ok so....after how many months of me being a slack ass I am back into it and i feel awesome :)

monday night i got home from work and decided to run along the foreshore...I have measured it before and i made a few little changes but should have been reasonably close to 4k but then at the end i looked at my watch and it was about 19mins....which could not have possibly been close...i am getting a bit faster...but not that fast, i was breathing quite hard at the end though...

tuesday morning I got up and did about 20mins of med paced running around my little world....awesome way to start the day ! I forgot how great it is to exercise before work :)

This morning....got up and went cycling with Lauren....we had 1.5 hours on the program but we only ended up doing about an hour...rode from wickham around the beach up some very steepish hills (a bit impressed with hilary this morning) until her chain came off riding down one of them but all good :). Rode up to merewether beach past bar and back through the junction home...there were parts of the ride where there was some serious heavy breathing happening and because i dont really have gears to speak of, I am spinning in a pretty hard gear so my thighs are getting bigger by the day :)

After work this arv, went and did a half hour in the pool at a reasonable pace...1.5k...almost getting back to my normal speed :)

I feel great!

Yep, there was some macy gray in that lyrics one and the movie was high fidelity :) Its a great movie for music nerds :)

Which came first? The music or the misery?

Ok so I have had a semi productive weekend...

Yesterday morning, I got up and went for a moderatley paced ride for about an hour and did two laps around the beach so went along hannel st, down honeysuckle round to newcastle beach up to the police station and back to my place twice. Went with my new friend bronwyn who I have a feeling was capable of going much faster and I was just cruising along... (For those interested, hilary's retirement fund is coming along nicely and as soon as my thesis is done, there may be some new bike purchasing, cause i think it is doing bad things to my body!)

Then, I tottled my little tooshie out to the blues fest and watched Mia dyson. I have to say if you ever get a chance to see her, do it...even if you arent a blues fan...she is absolutley amazing and I was completley mesmerised by her for about an hour...anyway I digress...

Then ended up going and having some dinner with some other cyclists (Oh my god no...) and it looks like there is going to be some kind of pack forming...which i guess will be cool to get me focused...and possibly make me train a bit harder...

Got up nice and lesurily this morning and did some work and ventured out to the sun to do some cycling...went out did a 30min hard session (massive wind today) and then it looked like rain so i headed home...but it hadnt started raining so i turned it into a brick session...i ended up probably riding about 12k and then a 1k run before it started to rain...forgot how much bricks hurt and was a bit of a wake up call that i need to get alot more bricks in before i try and pretend i actually do this sport....am going to aim for a brick either once or twice a week...

am hopefully going to be able to put some kind of schedule for training in the next couple of days...i am 8 weeks off my submit date for my thesis so between now and then i am also going to hopefully get a whole chunk of training done :)

BTW....the post title was the line in the movie that came on when i started typing this...and u know...miners stole my idea..so i stole his :)
