6K Run

Whoot! I just ran for 53mins....

I dont know how far this was cause i did it on the cycle ways...lets say that i ran about 8mins a k (which is my normal pace!) although i felt i was going a bit faster than that! Lets estimate that it must have been around 6 and a bit K whoot!
i still hate running though...

am off to mexican!that should make all those calories i just burned come back really quickly!
:)

25k Cycle 1.5K swim

ok so again with the blogging!

Today was the first day in ages that i had a day completley by myself. That means no physical interaction from anyone (i dont mean that in a sex way people, i mena that in a having people around me way...)..I have been smsing it up though, so does that count as interaction? They have been good sms :D

This morning i woke up and went for a cycle for a couple of hours, have no idea how far though ( I should get me one of those little cycling computer things but i refuse to be a cycling nerd damit!) i pretty much cycled around the city adn hit a couple of the hills around the beach. I probably clocked around 25k i would imagine. I did it pretty slowly.

This arvo i wandered around my favourite bookshop looking for a book a friend had recommended. I have been readign the same tess gerritesen book for like a month and it is do bad, everytime i pick it up i go to sleep! So i bought a cyclists manual published in 1981 to help with all of hilarys bits! :) I also bought a Tom Robbins book which i am hoping is going to be cool! *Lindsay nerds it up, and is writing about a book on a blog* They have also done up the bookshop and my favourite haunt is now really wanky!

Anyway, it was an awesome day outside so i decided to go to the council swimming pool instead of the gym one which is all smelly and inside. it was a massive difference to the inside thing, and the gym pool has less children jumping on my head. that upsets me. anyway..i ended up doing about 1.5k pretty slowly, then kicked some smart ass kids ass.

So i am now at home writing work reports! My motivation for this, is that by doing them tonight, i can spend my day working from home exercising! thats a plan right :) I am going for a ride with bec in the morning and then we will go from there.

I am thinking about whether or not i should enter the foreshore tri on the 12th. Its a longer distance but i think i could do it! the question is, can i be bothered?

Longest blog ever!

Ok. So i have had a reasonably big weekend so this could be a bit of a long blog...

Friday I had an absolute bastard of a day at work which resulted in me working a solid 12 hour day...which is very bad in case management...so when i was meant to be at a Mars Volta concert in Sydney, I was leaving gosford in a very very feral mood. Got to the cross (where i was staying so that i could park my car, put my bike somewhere etc and then drove around for an hour and a half, a) looking for the motel that i was meant to be going to and b) looking for a car park...turns out that the motel was in the dogdy end of the street and the car park was this car wash place which was equally as dodgy...anyway, i reluctantly parked susan and took hilary inside, threw my clothes on and jumped in a cab to Newtown...I arrived to catch the last 20 minutes of Mars Volta (which was awesome just as an aside, apparently they played like a 2 hour continous set...)...then we went to the pub, Emm and Ev went to a party, came back like 10 minutes later and we hung out and drank...caught up with a friend of mine, had cool chats (so cool! :)) and then went back to the cross....at this point we worked out that we hadnt had any food, and i had taken one of my clients to the gym after lunch so was feeling it! ate the dodgiest pizza we could find on Darlinghurst Rd and grabbed my coke for the morning and went to bed! this was around 3am....

My alarm at 6 was evil on saturday morning...i wanted it to stop so bad...but it just kept making that noise and i remembered that i needed to be at Penrith for the Womens Tri. I also need to mention, that at some point during the 4 hours sleep that i had, i managed to pull a muscle in my left leg...i dont know how i did it, but i was feeling some pain and the results of a hangover before i embarked on this....anyway...drove my ass out to penrith regatta centre (which for those who have never been there...is actually at the end of the earth!) It was so hot and humid it was stupid. The race was scheduled to start at 11:30 in the morning. I was buggered befroe even looking at starting it...got my first race tshirt (which is massive!). Tried to take on heaps of water and couldnt get my blue powerade which messed with my head a little...

I did the enticer (short ass) race cause i have been feeling a bit average over the last couple of weeks, and with the heat i was really worried that i wouldnt be able to actually finish it. I jumped in for the swim feeling a bit aprehensive cause it was my first open water swim (and the open water really freaks me out!). I hung out near the back so that i would be able to avoid all the splashing and kicking in the head...turns out, I am not a bad swimmer so it didnt take long for me to overtake most of those who i was trying to avoid and jump out in pretty good stead. The swim was much better than i thought it would be, and i was making a concious effort to be very calm....all good...

Jumped on my bike, and took it reasonably easy around the course. It is a very fast track with no hills and pretty much smooth pathways all around. It definatly didnt feel the same as the maitland club track which has a 2k slow hill climb in the middle on very dodgy roads. I took the advice of the much wiser (Thanks again Minersrun!) and tried to spin easier so that i wouldnt have the massive pain when i got off the bike...I was feeling pretty ok when i got off (although i really need to learn how to drink on the bike...) I spun for probably the last 300 m and did some stretching as i was coming into transition...I didnt check what time i was doing when i got off the bike but i did manage to tip half a bottle of water over my head to cool me down....good work lindsay I say!

Now the run. We have spoke about the run before. I hate the run. This was longer than my normal cblub distance which i have been struggling with...I did pretty good considering. I walked probably 200m at the most. I was feeling the pain, but not too badly...I also had the little thrill of the man saying my name over the loud speaker and then making a comment on the relaxed stance of my run (I felt like i was in the olympics btw! :P). I dropped a couple of places, and i felt like i had been going forever (i was guessing about an hour!) When i ran across the finish i looked at the clock and had done the race in just under 45 mins. I was so stoked! the race i did last week which was shorter took me 52 mins. The bike course must have made a massive difference.

Needless to say though, when i finished despite the 40 degree heat, i was feeling cold and very disoriented...i then remembered the food thing and the whole, I havent had anything but one piece of pizza for 24hours. I quickly got myself some food adn was feeling much better!

Went back to the motel room, had a nap...and then to the Opera house for nigel kenedy plays Vivaldi which was amazing! Long but amazing. This guy kicks soccer balls into the audience and made the orchestra play their violins as if they were banjos so they could do the highland fling! I then went back to the cross and had some Japanese food! Was gonna catch up with some friends and do some drinking etc, but i was too buggered and went back to the motel room and slept! I woke up at 9am after having one of the best sleeps in ages...

Had a lesuirely one today, got up had breaky, went to the powerhouse museum (so cool!) And emm went nuts over the kylie exhibition while i was disappointed the cool robot who challenges people to block moving competetions was broken! Had some chinese in china town and got into the chinese new year festivities (Go year of the dog! ) Chatted with Sar who has been in America for 3 weeks and got her cool stories. Went and saw my sisters new place and headed home...

now i am writing my blog and this is where i am at...I hope you have been paying attention. There is a test afterwards!

Ah moving day has arrived!

Ok so the blogging :)

I am having an absolute shocker as far as training goes. But as for life, its not doing so bad!
I went for a ride yesterday with Curtis on my mountain bike Geraldine (I dont know why these bikes have old fashioned womens names...) Poor Geraldine, doesnt have gears or brakes that work very well, so there is a bit of feet being put down on the ground action...anywhoo...went riding after work out around the cycleway past west gosford and to woy woy and back...not to bad a ride, took it pretty easy for chunks of it though, but there are a few steep little pinches, which would normally have not mattered but on the bike with no gears that is a bit small for me...it was challenging!

Oh yesterday I also slept in...I was meant to be at work at 8...i woke up at 7:30...i live an hour and a half from work and hadnt put my bike on my car at that stage...the math is not looking promising...

speaking of math! (as we obviously were) does anyone remember that cool Mathnet show with Kate Monday and george foley and they would solve complicated math problems like the missing dirt etc....i think it was part of square one tv...god i am a nerd arent i? "Smog so thick you could cut it with a cliche" That impressed me as a child...

So today! I fully intended getting up at 5 and running....yeah didnt happen...then i took my running gear with me to syd (where i was supposed to be helping to move my sister) and then ended up having an awesome lunch with a friend, which turned into beer and so the running didnt happen...( I would much prefer the beer anyday anyway...) so it has been another day without training....

I have to take my client to the gym tommorrrow so i might get a light brick session in before racing on saturday! Am off to syd for the weekend (oooh big smoke) and am doing the whole Mars Volta (so cool!!!!) thing tommorrow night, racing sat and then off to the Nigel Kennedy plays Vivaldi at the opera house...so much fun to be had!

Best get my beauty sleep then :)

Oooh I have a fan!

Hi Jen_runs! *Lins Waves*

My Day!

Well the body got up feeling less average today which is awesome! However, I am still struggling with this cold and as a result have a less than attractive k.d. lang style voice happening...needless to say, this is not doing wonderful things for my training.

I decided I was going to have a bit of an easy day today as I have another race at the end of the week so...I took Cooper (the puppy) for a walk along the breakwall at around 11am and she seemed to enjoy it. There were a couple of guys out on their bikes and i was kinda keen for a ride after seeing them out in the sunshine, but tommorrow it will have to be.

Came home and had a bit of a nap after posting a question about my poor run form on the Cool Running website (coolrunning.com.au) Thanks Minersrun! I have been reading your blog for a while, am very impressed at your work!

Anywhoo...It was warm in my house, so i decided to take coops to the park for a bit of a play, threw my running shoes on and then when i got to the oval decided that i would do a 2.4k timed run. It took me 19mins. I was so disappointed. I felt so unbelievably buggered. My face was feeling like it would explode and i drank a whole bottle of water and still didnt feel any cooler. This was about 4pm. I went to my mates place to drop off cooper later on and he informed me that it was actually 36 degrees and 70% humidity....phew no wonder about the heat! that made me feel a bit better but the running thing is still playing on my mind...

I also got an email today from the people with the race on saturday for the all women thing. So my race doesnt start to 11:30am which is going to kill me. Although on the upside i will have more of a chance to sleep following the mars volta concert the night before...oh dear!

went out and had dinner with emm and ev tonight at the best mexican resturant in nsw (well thats what the sign says ) and had a number 61 as always and am feeling very full as a result....

going to attempt to get up in the morning and take gertrude (my hybrid) for a gentle ride to the beach and back and maybe around darby street. I dont think the body is ready for the King Edward park hills this week.... :)

Racing!

Hey all,

Ok so i have been a slack ass and not blogged for ages...but i swear i have an excuse! Have had one of those weeks where i have been struggling to make stuff happen...I havent had a bad training week as far as they go and have done quite a bit of cycling! Which is good!

Yesterday I took off with bec for a couple of hours to get some training in for the corporate event for sparke helmore...I am doing the swim leg! yeah! The course we did was kinda flat which was good, although we hit some hills up around merewether beach...took hilary out for a spin and i have to say she does fantastic work on the hills! So we ended up doing about 16 k in about an hour and a half which was a bit slower than normal for me, but wee had stops along the way to stretch and stuff, cause bec was a bit sore from the spin class on thursday....
the spin class....meh....i so dont even break a sweat! wondering if i am doing it right...i was just getting into it and they said it was over :)

Anywhoo....so i called in at the bike shop in Newcastle to see whether the guy could have a look at hilarys back tyre cause it was rubbing and he was a massive prick! He said to me "If you want to get a little bit fit, perhaps you should go for a walk"....I was spitting...so instead of actually punching him, i am just telling every cyclist i know (of which there are many) not to go to the Avanti shop on Darby St....you are included in this by the way :P

I raced today! My second completed club race (following the I forgot to pump up my tyre dilema the last time!). I had a very painful swim leg today, think it might have been because of the cold and i was struggling to find air...got out about 3rd or 4th i think and then jumped on the bike thinking to myself ok so this is where you will loose....I overtook people! Oh my god! it is the first time ever in any kind of sporting event that i have done this! It was awesome...I also held out my closest woman competitor for about 6 k until she got me on the hills...not up mind you, but coming down (i am terrified of falling off)...so it was awesome! :) Hilary and i make a good team! The run is where it went bad...i only got overtaken by one person...but jeez i was struggling...i ran probably half of the 2k and i just got to the point where i went nah, i cant be bothered running...is that bad? Anywhoo, the body is really hating me now, and i am aching all over....did i mention i did this on 3 hours sleep and am fronting up again on saturday for the womens event in penrith?

Meh!
