Longest blog ever!
Ok. So i have had a reasonably big weekend so this could be a bit of a long blog...
Friday I had an absolute bastard of a day at work which resulted in me working a solid 12 hour day...which is very bad in case management...so when i was meant to be at a Mars Volta concert in Sydney, I was leaving gosford in a very very feral mood. Got to the cross (where i was staying so that i could park my car, put my bike somewhere etc and then drove around for an hour and a half, a) looking for the motel that i was meant to be going to and b) looking for a car park...turns out that the motel was in the dogdy end of the street and the car park was this car wash place which was equally as dodgy...anyway, i reluctantly parked susan and took hilary inside, threw my clothes on and jumped in a cab to Newtown...I arrived to catch the last 20 minutes of Mars Volta (which was awesome just as an aside, apparently they played like a 2 hour continous set...)...then we went to the pub, Emm and Ev went to a party, came back like 10 minutes later and we hung out and drank...caught up with a friend of mine, had cool chats (so cool! :)) and then went back to the cross....at this point we worked out that we hadnt had any food, and i had taken one of my clients to the gym after lunch so was feeling it! ate the dodgiest pizza we could find on Darlinghurst Rd and grabbed my coke for the morning and went to bed! this was around 3am....
My alarm at 6 was evil on saturday morning...i wanted it to stop so bad...but it just kept making that noise and i remembered that i needed to be at Penrith for the Womens Tri. I also need to mention, that at some point during the 4 hours sleep that i had, i managed to pull a muscle in my left leg...i dont know how i did it, but i was feeling some pain and the results of a hangover before i embarked on this....anyway...drove my ass out to penrith regatta centre (which for those who have never been there...is actually at the end of the earth!) It was so hot and humid it was stupid. The race was scheduled to start at 11:30 in the morning. I was buggered befroe even looking at starting it...got my first race tshirt (which is massive!). Tried to take on heaps of water and couldnt get my blue powerade which messed with my head a little...
I did the enticer (short ass) race cause i have been feeling a bit average over the last couple of weeks, and with the heat i was really worried that i wouldnt be able to actually finish it. I jumped in for the swim feeling a bit aprehensive cause it was my first open water swim (and the open water really freaks me out!). I hung out near the back so that i would be able to avoid all the splashing and kicking in the head...turns out, I am not a bad swimmer so it didnt take long for me to overtake most of those who i was trying to avoid and jump out in pretty good stead. The swim was much better than i thought it would be, and i was making a concious effort to be very calm....all good...
Jumped on my bike, and took it reasonably easy around the course. It is a very fast track with no hills and pretty much smooth pathways all around. It definatly didnt feel the same as the maitland club track which has a 2k slow hill climb in the middle on very dodgy roads. I took the advice of the much wiser (Thanks again Minersrun!) and tried to spin easier so that i wouldnt have the massive pain when i got off the bike...I was feeling pretty ok when i got off (although i really need to learn how to drink on the bike...) I spun for probably the last 300 m and did some stretching as i was coming into transition...I didnt check what time i was doing when i got off the bike but i did manage to tip half a bottle of water over my head to cool me down....good work lindsay I say!
Now the run. We have spoke about the run before. I hate the run. This was longer than my normal cblub distance which i have been struggling with...I did pretty good considering. I walked probably 200m at the most. I was feeling the pain, but not too badly...I also had the little thrill of the man saying my name over the loud speaker and then making a comment on the relaxed stance of my run (I felt like i was in the olympics btw! :P). I dropped a couple of places, and i felt like i had been going forever (i was guessing about an hour!) When i ran across the finish i looked at the clock and had done the race in just under 45 mins. I was so stoked! the race i did last week which was shorter took me 52 mins. The bike course must have made a massive difference.
Needless to say though, when i finished despite the 40 degree heat, i was feeling cold and very disoriented...i then remembered the food thing and the whole, I havent had anything but one piece of pizza for 24hours. I quickly got myself some food adn was feeling much better!
Went back to the motel room, had a nap...and then to the Opera house for nigel kenedy plays Vivaldi which was amazing! Long but amazing. This guy kicks soccer balls into the audience and made the orchestra play their violins as if they were banjos so they could do the highland fling! I then went back to the cross and had some Japanese food! Was gonna catch up with some friends and do some drinking etc, but i was too buggered and went back to the motel room and slept! I woke up at 9am after having one of the best sleeps in ages...
Had a lesuirely one today, got up had breaky, went to the powerhouse museum (so cool!) And emm went nuts over the kylie exhibition while i was disappointed the cool robot who challenges people to block moving competetions was broken! Had some chinese in china town and got into the chinese new year festivities (Go year of the dog! ) Chatted with Sar who has been in America for 3 weeks and got her cool stories. Went and saw my sisters new place and headed home...
now i am writing my blog and this is where i am at...I hope you have been paying attention. There is a test afterwards!
