One of the best things which has happened in the last little while is the fact that i have dropped down to part time at work, so that i can be more productive around the uni/thesis thing! however, the added perk is I get 2 days in the middle of the week to train :)

So, yesterday, I went and had lunch and then decided that I would go for a run along the beach...not on the beach mind you, along the little pathy bits...i decided to run along the bathers way in merewether which for those who dont know it takes you past the ocean baths, along dixon park beach, past bar beach and then up to strezlecki lookout...its about 5k return which isnt too bad, except that in the middle of this is 2 kick ass hills. The first one is a steep short climb which is probably 100m long....the second is the dreaded bar beach hill, which i have gotten off my bike and refused to ride up....its probably about 500m of reasonable climbing...so anywho. the first 2.5k to the turnaround at the top of the hill took me exactly 20mins....the return took me 16 as you would expect with the big dirty hill out of the way....although its good to see that my 5k time may have improved slightly...

Am feeling a bit sore at the moment though, this was probably the closest to a long run that i have had for some time. Might give it another go next week, and add some time on. The body isnt used to running on hills any more. Think it is time to go and visit the parents and use them for thier dodgy roads and steep hills :)

The tri season for me is over this weekend :( Have a club race on and then i am done. However, thinking about joining the cycling club so i can improve that more and then keeping the running happening 3 times per week. Maybe a swim here or there? Am looking to get some spectators happenign this week i think...make me feel like and olympian :)

mmm. well now i have sprouted on for a time.....

there is a thesis to be written :) Oh and i am going to ride to king edward park...stay posted :)

Comments:
oooh ... the hills around bar beach are tough. Would be nice to have a couple of extra days to train though (even if it is over those hills!)
