Whoot! I have a trophy!
mmm. ok so the slack blogger returns :)
Not much really happened in the last week, but lets give it a go :)
I was a slacko last week and didnt really do any training until Friday night, I had a horrendus week at work and I have been a bit distracted by some other stuff that is happening...for example, I should be writing a thesis...grrr.
On friday arvo, I donned my running shoes and covered about 3 k took me 24mins. Was wanting to do more, but ran out of sunshine. Its weird. I dont like running, but yet i crave it if i dont do it...strange. I am thinking that I need to get more happening and then i migth start to like it...not holding out hope though :p In addition to this, I have started wearing my watch again to train and i dont think it helps, because i focus way too much on the time and not on the actual running itself...
Saturday, I had to go to my parents place in Port Macq and was planning on getting a run in, cause i couldnt take my bike...it then preceeded to rain for a good chunk of time. So, Instead i spent 30minutes on my mums eliptical trainer which is on the hardest setting and cant be changed! wow...there was sweating, and i would imagine i probably worked harder than if i were running anyway...
Sunday we had the Sparke Helmore corporate tri on in which i donned the swimmers and braved the horrible water in newcastle harbour. I have never done an open water ocean swim before and I was suitably freaked out. What made this worse, was that 250m into the swim you get up, run out on the sand, around some flags and then swim anouther 250m before a soft sand run for 300m to the transition...grr. I also got kicked in the head twice and had a girl grab my ankle and twist it. I had an absolute shocker and didnt get out of the water until about 10th last i would imagine. Note, more practice is needed for this. Think my anxiety is playing tricks on me, although i found my rhythm about 100 metres before i was ready to get out! :)
Anyways, the other 2 did awesome and we ended up coming third...watch this space for photos people!
Following the event, drinks and sleep were had. Oh and fried food...mmm fried....
Am loving life at the moment and feel really good. Some good stuff has been going on of late, and although i havent been as happy as i could be in some areas of my life, the other good parts are more than making up for it. That and the first ever sporting trophy of course :P My mum is now lining up my olympic campaign...
